Online Travel Agents (OTAs) charge up to 20% commission on bookings, which can take a large cut out of any hotel's profit. Triptease offer a solution, claiming they can increase direct bookings by 30% for independent hotels. Using TripTease's Price Check widget, which showcases live OTA prices for rooms, hotels can decrease the percentage of visitors leaving the direct website to price compare. The TripTease platform also offers data analytics on millions of travel consumers, so smaller hotels can learn to compete with bigger OTAs.In April 2017 Triptease secured $9 million in Series B funding, with plans to use the money to expand into Asian markets via a new office in Singapore, as well as expand its current offices in London and New York.
