Marriott has recently announced a partnership with China's Alibaba Group, combining their huge consumer base in a joint venture.Chinese travellers will now be able to book rooms at Marriott hotels through Fliggy, Alibaba's travel service platform. They will have access to exclusive, member-only prices, and the Marriott rewards program. The partnership will also offer personalised travel experiences for Chinese travellers.Marriott already has a heavy presence in the country through its various hotel brands - there are around 300 Marriott-owned hotels in China currently, with plans for that figure to double.Alibaba's online payment service Alipay is now accepted in select Marriott hotels, with plans to expand globally in the future. The e-wallet is extremely popular in China, and the expansion of its services will make travelling abroad a lot simpler for its users.The two corporate giants are focusing on the growing travel market in China: in the next five years alone, Chinese travellers are predicted to take around 700 million trips. It's a huge and growing market, and Marriott and Alibaba are ensuring they're ready.
